Performance Analysis of a Standalone Inverter System Under Variable Loading Conditions

In this paper, the performance of a standalone inverter is studied under different loading conditions. A vector control scheme is used to control the inverter, and a droop controller is also incorporated in this scheme to maintain constant voltage and frequency at the load bus at varying load conditions. An optimization technique, called firefly algorithm (FA), is used to optimize the gain values of PI controllers. Finally, the entire system is implemented in MATLAB/Simulink software, and also, all the responses are analyzed in detail. From simulink results, it has been observed that the FA-based control scheme is capable enough to achieve satisfactory performance of a standalone inverter, and also, it can maintain rated frequency and load voltage at the load bus under variations of load.
