We present a novel non-linear joint inversion of GPR and electrical resistivity (ER) data that enhances long wavelength and accuracy in the recovered electrical permit-tivity and conductivity of the subsurface. We do so by (i) exploiting the inherent link of GPR and ER data to conductivity given by Maxwell’s equations, (ii) using the envelope of the GPR data in the FWI scheme, and (iii) iteratively implementing the cross-gradients constraint directly in the inversion. Our scheme improves the accuracy, frequency content, and depth resolution of the permittivity and conductivity solutions compared to individual GPR and ER inversions.
