Abstract
This chapter details processes used in transitioning from content-based to competency-based curricula in Health Informatics. This transition required collaboration and cooperation between AMIA, the Health Informatics professional organization, and CAHIIM, the Health Informatics accrediting body. Lessons learned from this process include: the importance of using a deliberative iterative process, developing solid working relationships, valuing competency-based curricula, involving the right people, consistent message delivery, and the need to handle the uneasiness of the transition.
