Digitalization and security: a new challenge for Mathematics 4.0

Abstract Based on cyber-physical components, automated production, and the huge amount of data available (e.g., historical data), Industry 4.0 requires some form of technical approach for its interaction with the components. A technical framework which runs permanently in the background is therefore necessary, and mathematics with its tools makes this possible. By applying mathematics to Industry 4.0 valueable data could be generated. This kind of data usage brings a lot of positive effects to whole branches, like for instance the ability to define, which kind of product to produce first, the right amount of production, the best order of supply chain, the appropriate storage and the optimal product delivery.
