Abstract
Most pancreatic cystic neoplasms are detected incidentally. Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) are classified as main duct type, branch duct type or mixed type. Many patients with IPMNs have no symptoms. Some patients have pancreatitis-like symptoms and elevated pancreatic enzymes. Branch duct IPMNs may demonstrate thin-walled pancreatic cysts with main pancreatic duct communication. Main duct IPMNs show main pancreatic duct dilatation. Mural nodules may appear hyperechoic. It is difficult to find pancreatic tail IPMNs. Pancreas IPMNs associate with ductal communication in the body of the pancreas and another cyst in the tail of the pancreas which could be visualized by filling the stomach with water.
