Abstract
Seven lithofacies associations were identified analysed in Upper McMurray member based on cores description and thin section photomicrographs and scanning electron photomicrographs. Reservoir quality was analysed by lithofacies and classified as non-reservoir, moderate reservoir, good reservoir and excellent reservoir. Controlling factors including depositional factors, diagenetic factors and water zones of reservoir quality were analysed. Grey theory method was applied to calculate the index of reservoir quality and make clear distributions of different reservoir quality. Good and excellent reservoir of M-2 layer and M-3 layer has banding distribution and locating distribution respectively. The width and length of good and excellent reservoir of M-2 layer are around 4 km and 8 km respectively. The width and length of the good and excellent reservoir of M-3 layer are around 4 km and 10 km respectively.
