Targeted genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 system in fungi

Abstract Fungi are eukaryotic microbes, comprising species that are involved in various food, agricultural, and pharmaceutical industries. Some fungal species are pathogenic to humans as well as other animals and plants. This chapter introduces the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9 (Cas9)-mediated genome editing and associated technologies relevant to fungi, ranging from basic principles to genome editing approaches for various biological researches.
