Abstract
Tick is one of the main threats to the livestock industry. There are many chemicals used for keeping control of tick population. However, these tests are done manually. Some ticks are removed from their hosts and subjected to acaricides.A researcher has to count how many ticks are dead and how many are still alive. This test is a time-consuming task, so this work aims to automate this procedure.U-Net and detection of shapes techniques are developed in order to easily identify the ticks on an digital image. The best result of the proposed method indicated the 98,92% tick larvae were found, and 99.35% of larvae that were alive and 98.14% of dead larvae were counted correctly.
