Reinventing Mechatronics—Final Thoughts

The chapters in this book were selected from papers presented at the 16th Biannual Mechatronics Forum Conference held at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgowin September 2018 on the basis of current interests and are by nomeans to be construed as an exhaustive work. However, the underlying principles in each chapter are very similar and important. Each points to the future and how the reinvention of many aspects of mechatronic systems is critical if only to avoid repeating the same mistakes as previously made by others. This concluding chapter is therefore deliberately not overly technical, with just a few references to encourage interested readers to delve deeper into specific areas of reinvention.
