摘要
MyBrainRobbie was launched in 2019 to promote brain health among children with support from the Global Brain Health Institute and the Alzheimer's Association. This initiative includes an animated 7-minutes video of a little Robbie brain to help children learn about 8 simple lifelong healthy lifestyles and offers new material on free access for public health interventions. To determine the acceptability of MyBrainRobbie, we carried out an evaluation of its implementation in schools. A 1-hour structured and timed class on brain health was delivered by Eleonore Bayen in three elementary schools (13 classes) in a Parisian suburb (Seine-Saint-Denis) after obtaining principals’ and teachers’ approval. It included icebreaker's Q&As about health promotion and brain's functions (both pre-prepared and spontaneous,10minutes); viewing of MyBrainRobbie's video (10minutes); written post-video evaluation of (1)self-assessment of students’ understanding of the video's content, (2)rating of their satisfaction of the video, (3)rating of their willingness to share it (all in the form of Likert scales composed of 5 smileys,10minutes); written post-video assessment of the list of the 8 neuro-protective habits (with 8 pictoral hints for the lowest grade) followed by spontaneous Q&As about brain protection (25minutes); final debrief about brain health (5minutes). A total of 303 students ranging from second to sixth grade (aged 6–11 years) participated. Students’ satisfaction ratings of the video were: excellent=64%; good=29.7%; no opinion=2.7%; bad=3%; very bad=0.06%, with the highest satisfaction levels in the youngest students. Students’ willingness to share the video was: yes of course!=49.8%; probably yes=27.7%; no opinion=15.9%; probably not=4%; no=2.6%. Students’ self-assessment of their own understanding of the video was: very easy to understand=68.4%; easy=24.6%; no opinion=4.7%; difficult=2%; very difficult=0.3%. There was a linear increase of a higher level of self-declared understanding of the video's content associated with older grades (oneway anova, p=0.003). Students were able to recall a mean span of 7 out of 8 neuro-protective factors (median=7;SD=1.3;min=1-max=8) with no significant difference according to grades (even after removing the group with pictoral hints).
