Effects of hot air temperature on drying characteristics and quality of Hybrid Pennisetum(Pennisetum americanum x P.purpureum)

In order to obtain a drying method that can improve the drying efficiency and quality, the study has been done about the effects of hot air drying on the drying kinetics and quality of Hybrid Pennisetum. In this paper, hot air drying (60, 70, 80 ℃) is applied to the drying experiment of Hybrid Pennisetum, and the effects of hot air drying on the drying kinetics and quality of Hybrid Pennisetum are analyzed. The experimental results shows that the drying time of hot air drying is shorter when the temperture is higher, and the drying rate is higher. The L* value of dried Hybrid Pennisetum is higher than fresh materials, and has less change under different temperture. The protein content of dried Hybrid Pennisetum has a loss about 10.3%~13.1%. Compared with the control group, the acid detergent fiber (ADF) content and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) content of dried Hybrid Pennisetum have no significant difference.
