Theoretical and Empirical Insights into Ethical Decision Making: The Role of the Social Context

In this symposium, we gather leading and emerging scholars to discuss their state-of-the-science theoretical and empirical research on ethical decision making and (un)ethical behavior in organizations. In contrast to most of earlier research in the field of business ethics, the papers in this symposium consider the social forces that influence ethical decision making and the consequences of (un)ethical behavior. Taken together, the papers in this symposium offer important theoretical and empirical insights into the influence of the social milieu on ethical decision making and the consequences of (un)behavior and provide a theoretical foundation for future research in this perspective.
