New specific synonymies and taxonomic notes on Neotropical black flies (Diptera: Simuliidae) belonging to the subgenera Chirostilbia Enderlein, Hemicnetha Enderlein, Inaequalium Coscarón & Wygodzinsky, Psaroniocompsa Enderlein  and Psilopelmia Enderlein

In this paper we clarify the status of some poorly known black fly species from the Neotropical region. Information is provided about their depositories, their condition and on previously established synonyms. Nineteen new synonyms and three new type designations are made based on an examination of type material.
