The unconventional reservoirs in Sulige gas field face this challenge having high heterogeneity, low pressure, low permeability, and low gas richness features. Sand bodies are widely distributed and most of them adjacent to each other, but the hydrocarbon presence is scattered. Thus, the objective in the Lower Permian Shihezi Formation (LPSF - most prolific hydrocarbon formation), is pore-fluid content description rather than lithological. Accordingly, we successfully accomplish a fluid discrimination of the LPSF and generate a resistivity volume integrating nonstandard attributes (direct Russell fluid factor and modified Poisson impedance – using stochastic and deterministic seismic inversion, respectively) with conventional attributes through multi-attribute analysis and neural network (NN) training. Finally, a comprehensive analysis of results allows us to pinpoint potential hydrocarbon–bearing zones within an area of 260 km2.
