RTM requires extensive data storage since it computes wavefields in forward time and accesses wavefields in reverse order. We first review several successful schemes that have been proposed to reduce data storage, but require more computational redundancies. In this paper, we first present a effective strategy to improve computational efficiency and reduce data storage. The proposed strategy can be applied both on CPU and GPU. Secondly, we present two real data (a 2D high steep complex structure data and a 3D TTI shale gas reservoir data) applications to demonstrate the proposed strategy is effective and efficient.
