Understanding the influence of the focal mechanism on the localization accuracy of microseismic events can provide help for the subsequent localization processing. Therefore, it is particularly important to study the impact of the focal mechanism on the accuracy of surface microseismic event location. In this paper, 3D viscoelastic wave forward modelings of three different focal mechanisms (CLVD, DC and ISO) are performed by the high-order staggered grid finite difference method. Using P-wave and S-wave respectively for positioning and comparing the positioning accuracy of the two positioning methods, the impact of the focal mechanism on the location accuracy of surface microseismic events was analyzed.
