Crisis and agricultural change in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, 1980s-2010s: an interdisciplinary approach.

Abstract This chapter explores possibilities and difficulties encountered when using an interdisciplinary, mixed-method approach for better understanding how crises may affect agriculture. Combining satellite image analysis of cropland changes with qualitative interviews, a case study is presented from the Duhok province in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. By discussing the preliminary findings, the chapter demonstrates the potential of the integrated approach while also addressing practical challenges when collaborating across disciplines.
