Abstract
The study conducted on a random sample of 142 students of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan, Himachal Pradesh revealed that there existed a good relationship between the teacher and the taught. Fast delivery of lecture, more emphasis on theory than practical, large class size/strength of the students, the hesitation or inferiority complex among the students etc were the main hindrances in effective learning in the class. Practical-oriented teaching with emphasis on extra-curricular activities, congenial relationship between the teacher and the taught, job-oriented/competitive syllabus, monthly assessment of students’ performance, access/availability of Wi-Fi teaching system in the classrooms etc were some of the main suggestions provided by the respondents for creating effective teaching-learning situation in the class.
