Abstract
The Academy of Management (AOM) 2018 conference theme poses an important question: “How can organizations contribute to the betterment of society through elevating the health and well-being of those who live in it?” The aim of this Panel Symposium is to offer answers to that question from the perspective of research in the field of Positive Organizational Scholarship (POS). We have gathered together a group of leading scholars representing different areas within the field of POS uniquely positioned to richly illuminate the AOM 2018 conference theme. In our Symposium, we will discuss a) how organizations can promote the thriving and well-being of their employees, b) how organizations can be the nexus for high-quality human connections allowing collective efforts for a better society, c) how organizations can play a crucial role in addressing global challenges such as poverty, ecological deterioration, and reintegration of vulnerable populations, and d) how positive education can support the development of responsible organizational leaders and societal members.
