Abstract
The influence of roll-milling on the physicochemical characteristics of wheat straw was investigated in this study. The Mastersizer3000 laser particle size analyzer, X-ray diffractometry, Physical adsorption instrument and thermogravimetric analysis were used to investigate the changes on microstructure and physicochemical of different wheat straw. The results showed that roll-milling decreased significantly particle size (from 486.33 um to 26.03 um, D50) and the crystallinity of wheat straw (from 52.4% to 11.6%, CrI). The specific surface area and pore volume increased (from 1.743 m2/g to 2.858 m2/g from 0.004435 cm3/g to 0.012242 cm3/g, respectively) with reduction in particle size of wheat straw. The roll-milling didn‘t change the chemical structure and composition of wheat straw significantly. The thermal stability of roll-milling wheat straw decreased significant due to lower cellulose crystallinity.
