We added an undulating seafloor to the Marmousi2 model. Then seismic forward modeling in frequency domain was performed on the model to synthesize seismic P-wave data for the experiments. The initial velocity model for inversion was obtained by applying Gaussian smoothing on the model. Then the VSP, OBN and VSP+OBN data were used, separately, to inverse the velocity structure. The results show that the inversion strategy of using VSP+OBN data resulted in a velocity structure with higher precision than either using VSP or OBN data. It suggests that the VSP+OBN inversion strategy is a better solution for the rugged seabed situation.
