Is Democratic Election Possible in Somalia in 2016?

This question is mind-provoking to some, while it is preaching the unrealistic to others. On paper, the current administration in Mogadishu, Somalia, is entrusted with a national will to midwife the 2016 transition, but the reality on our face begged a test. I have therefore run a Facebook-based survey recently, and nearly 600 Somali Facebook users around the world responded. The survey presented respondents with three carefully worded, related questions: (1) is popular election in Somalia in 2016 possible? (2) what do you think is the obstacle to a democratic election? (3) could the current parliament be extended to elect president in 2016? The result did not only prove the impossibility of democratic elections in 2016. It did so with a higher degree of confidence (with 74%).
