DQw2: 2-D Gel Patterns

The pH gradient used in this study was not optimal for the two-dimensional (2-D) gel analysis of the DQβ chains from DQw2 cell lines. Therefore, only the most acidic, highly glycosylated form of this extremely basic molecule was observed. Nevertheless, whenever this DQβ spot was found in any of the DR3,DQw2 or DR7,DQw2 cell lines listed in Table 1, its pI and molecular weight were identical relative to the internal standards (Fig. 1). This result is consistent with the published cDNA sequences for DQw2 β chains from both DR3 and DR7 haplotypes, which show that the DR3,DQw2 and DR7,DQw2 haplotypes share the same allele of the DQB1 gene (see Discussion).
