Simple and rapid colorimetric visualization of tetramethylthiuram disulfide (thiram) sensing based on anti-aggregation of gold nanoparticles

•Colorimetric sensor was developed to monitor tetramethylthiuram disulfide (thiram) via anti-aggregation effect of Au NPs@4-ABT.•This sensor performed well over a linear range of 0.05–2.0 µM with 0.04 µM detection limit, and an entire detection process within 15 min.•This colorimetric sensor holds potential for on-site thiram detection in real samples.
