Correlation of DNA content and progesterone, and progesterone receptors, and pathologic stage in surgically staged endomemal adenocarcinoma

RESULTS: With a median follow-up time of 36 months (ranging 16 months to 68 months), pelvic control for adequate margin and inadequate margin were 100% and 80% for Stage IB, 87% and 42.9% for Stage IIB disease respectively.However, pelvic control for Stage IIIB was 50% for both groups.There was no difference of total dose at point A and point B between two groups.CONCLUSION: Without knowledge of the precise tumor volume, the four-field technique is potentially dangerous, risking underdosing of the tumor volume through lateral pelvic portals.Our preliminary data shows higher local failure in patients with inadequate margin.We strongly recommend CT treatment planning if four-field pelvic radiotherapy is used.Otherwise, AP/PA pelvic radiotherapy is the safest treatment for cancer of the uterine cervix.
