A method for HTL biocrude simulation using multi-objective optimisation and fractional distillation

•HTL biocrude was simulated using multi-objective optimisation and distillation.•Boiling point, density, and elemental composition were validated at the same time.•Multi-objective optimisation reduced the TBP and density errors by ten times.•GC–MS assisted NSGA-II algorithm could be easily applied for different feedstocks.
