•We developed and validated a prognostic model based on 3 pyroptosis genes for predicting survival of patients with HCC;•High expression of GPX4 predicted poor prognosis of patients with HCC;•RiskScore and GPX4 expression were negatively related with antitumor immunity in HCC.
