Who wants to work in geriatrics: Findings from a national survey of physicians and nurse practitioners

•42% of NPs working in primary and geriatric practices would recommend a career as an adult/gerontology nurse practitioner; 13% of physicians would recommend this career path•NP and MD clinicians trained in geriatrics and gerontology are more likely to recommend both nursing and medical careers in the specialty compared with those trained in primary care.•A total of 29% of NPs (compared to 17% of physicians) would definitely recommend a career as a geriatric MD.
