Is the Trial of Labor after Two Previous Cesarean Sections Contraindicated in China?
Biomedical and environmental sciences : BES(2021)
Abstract
The cesarean section(CS) rate has risen rapidly worldwide. In high-income countries, national studies have revealed that more than a quarter of births are performed by CS, while in China the rate increased from 28.8% in 2008 to 34.9% in2014[1]—far above the World Health Organization(WHO)-recommended rate of 10%–15%. Due to the high global cesarean rates, the promotion of trial of labor after cesarean(TOLAC) may be an option that can be used to reduce the overall number of CSs.
