Hepatic retinaldehyde dehydrogenases are modulated by tocopherol supplementation in mice with hepatic steatosis
Nutrition(2022)
Abstract
•Dietary a- and g-tocopherol supplementation prevents the increase of hepatic expression of retinaldehyde dehydrogenases.•Dietary a- and g-tocopherol supplementation downregulated hepatic expression of sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1-c and cluster differentiation 36.•Tocopherol supplementation prevents the high-fat diet-induced hepatic steatosis.•Tocopherol supplementation might have role in the retinol metabolism alterations observed in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
