近年来的考古实证表明,距今约4000年前后,处在黄土高原的石峁文化和江汉平原的后石家河文化之间存在文化因素交流互动迹象,在牙璋、鹰笄、虎头等典型玉器上表现尤为突出.两者交流互动的路线或为河套地区、关中地区、南阳盆地、江汉平原间的"走廊"地带,互动方式或可理解为远程交流背景下的"上层交流".
