人体对某一种或几种物质过敏时,可表现为过敏性哮喘.它属于哮喘的一种,发病率在成人哮喘中占50％以上,在儿童哮喘中占80％以上. 往往幼年发病,有反复性 过敏性哮喘与非过敏性哮喘在临床表现上没有明显的差异,但前者由过敏原引发或触发,往往在幼年发病,常有家族史和遗传倾向,且患者常伴有其他过敏性疾病,如湿疹、荨麻疹,或有其他食物或药物过敏史.
