Abstract
•A cooling technique using a newly designed MUMPFHS is proposed for HCPV system.•MUMPFHS can increase the feasibility of using HCPV under high CR with safe operation.•Thermal, energy and exergy performance of the developed HCPV system are analyzed.•Temperature non-uniformity of HCPV can be reduced to 2.4–4.4 k using MUMPFHS.•The friction power of MUMPFHS is less than 0.1% of electrical power of HCPV system.
