Abstract
Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) infections are increasing throughout the world and carry high mortality. There are some reports of CPE peritonitis in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. We report a case of PD-related peritonitis from carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae with OXA-48 type gene. The emphasis is on early clinical suspicion, appropriate antibiotics, and timely catheter removal.
