•The experimental cross sections of 238U(n,f)131Sb and 238U(n,f)131gTe induced by neutrons.•The methods used were neutron activation and off-line gamma-ray spectrometry.•The neutron energies used for the experiment are 14.1, 14.5, and 14.7 MeV.
