Catalyst-free self-healing bio-based vitrimer for a recyclable, reprocessable, and self-adhered carbon fiber reinforced composite

•Catalyst-free bio-based EMDA–AA vitrimer matrix from renewable MDA and AA.•Vitrimer matrix and CFRP have excellent mechanical properties because of rigid EMDA.•CFRP exhibits excellent reprocessing, shape memory and self-adhesive properties.•CFRP can be degraded by EA without catalyst.
