Green Approach to Synthesis of Novel and Broad-Range of 4,10-Dihydro-4- Aryl-3-(Phenylsulfonyl)Pyrano[2,3-B]Carbazol-2-Amine Derivatives

One-pot, three-component condensation reaction between (phenylsulfonyl) acetonitrile, aromatic aldehydes, and 4-hydroxy carbazole for preparation of 4,10-dihydro-4-Aryl-3-(phenylsulfonyl) pyrano[2,3-b]carbazol-2amine derivatives has been reported. The method involves domino Knoevenagel condensation/Michael addition, and cyclization cascade. The reaction was performed in glycerol, which is a commercially available, inexpensive and non-toxic compound. High purity of the products, very high yields and wide scope of substrates are advantages of this protocol.
