摘要
Context: Infection with the hepatitis B virus is a lifelong danger to healthcare workers. The transmission is associated with daily handling in hospital and make it an occupational disease with disastrous consequences. Vaccination remains the best protection, although it is insufficiently recommended and carried out in current practice in our settings by health care staff. Methods: It was a descriptive cross-sectional study carried out at the Evangelical Hospital of Vanga (HEV) from March 01 to June 30, 2018, including all health personnel, medical and paramedical, during the study period. Data collection was carried out using a pre-established questionnaire. Results: 114/150 HEV employees participated to the study, with a participation rate of 76%. The sex ratio was 1.24 in favor of the male sex. The average age was 38.3 ± 13 years with extremes ranging from 21 to 70 years. 67.6% of staff (or 77/114) admitted that they had never had an HBV test and only 17.5% (20/114) had ever been vaccinated. Conclusion: This study shows that the risk of contracting the hepatitis B virus in a hospital environment remains high in the medical population due to a low proportion of those vaccinated
