摘要
Air pollutions can be found both in indoor and outdoor areas as PMs (particulate matters) and gaseous emissions. Especially for PMs, they can be generated by human activities, such as smoking, cooking, and printing. Therefore, there is a need to reduce PM concentration in indoor areas as an effort to improve IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) by developing an air purification system. The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between the flow rate and the efficiency of the purification system related to PM10 concentrations reduction. The source of PM10 used in this study was cigarette smoke. The smokes were injected into an exposure chamber using a suction pump with a rate of 2 ms -1 for three seconds. The purification efficiency was calculated by using measured concentrations of PM10 before and after passing through the purification system. The concentrations of PMs were measured using a Handheld Air Tester Hinaway CW-HAT 200S. The results show that the purification system efficiency has no relationship with the sampling flow rate. Meanwhile, the flow rate has an impact on the purification time.
