Abstract
Purpose: Although numerous COVID-19 therapies have been investigated, there is no established treatment strategy. In this report, we presented two cases of COVID-19: a mother and her son. Patients and methods: The patients underwent physical examination and imaging, such as chest x-ray and computed tomography. They received ciclesonide treatment. Results: The son was believed to have contracted the disease from his mother, who had returned from a Nile tour in Egypt. The son accompanied his mother to the local hospital when she developed an eye ailment. Both mother and son developed pneumonia three and seven days later, respectively, and were admitted to the hospital. They remained symptomatic with fever and cough until the initiation of inhaled steroid treatment, after which the fever rapidly decreased. Conclusions: This is the first report on ciclesonide contributing to a successful outcome in familial cases of COVID19. The importance of this report lies in expanding our current knowledge on COVID-19 treatment and its clinical implications for human health.
