Luminescence of Pure Y2O3 Nanopowder and Ceramics Exposed to X-ray Irradiation

250-750 nm radioluminescence of pure yttrium oxide nanopowder and ceramics was experimentally studied by exposing to 60 keV X-ray irradiation at room temperature. The ceramics were sintered in air atmosphere at different temperatures 1300-1500 degrees C. We focused attention on the influence of powder compaction and sintering temperature on the luminescence spectra. It was showed that the spectra had an identical structure and consisted of one broad band 250-450 nm and 4 series of narrow bands. The origin of some series was identified.
