Abstract
•Pterostilbene administration improves the inflammatory markers, the synthetic function of hepatocytes, and decreases liver fibrosis in DEN-exposed rat model.•Pterostilbene alleviates the disrupted hepatic Adars expression with shifting towards Adar2.•The putative pterostilbene-induced hepatoprotective effect could be through modulation of Adars expression that may be incriminated in DEN-induced liver fibrosis.•The interplay between Adar1&2 and IL-6 and their role in liver fibrosis need further in-depth studies.
