Supplementation with lipids enhances zoosporulation of Perkinsus species

•Lipids significantly enhnace zoosporulation of Perkinsus olseni.•Large numbers of zoospores were efficiently collected by a novel method.•Zoosporulation of other Perkinsus spp. was also enhanced by lipids.•Zoosporulation in the vicinity of host body surface is speculated.
