Asymmetric inter-intra domain alignments (AIIDA) method for intelligent fault diagnosis of rotating machinery

•A new unsupervised domain adaptation based fault diagnosis method is proposed.•Both marginal and class-conditional distributions are aligned for adaptability.•Features that have lower inter-domain and higher intra-domain distance are learned.•Extensive experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
