Family intervention for delirium for patients in the intensive care unit: A systematic meta-analysis

•Delirium is one of the common manifestations of acute brain dysfunction in critically ill patients.•We aimed to explore the effect of family intervention on reducing delirium for ICU patients using meta-analysis.•It was found that the risk of delirium is 24% lower in the family intervention group, with 95% CI from 0.67 to 0.86.•This suggests that family intervention, as an independent approach, is effective in preventing delirium in ICU patients.
