Membrane-Inducing "Masquelet" Technique for Massive Traumatic Diaphyseal Femur Bone Loss in a Pediatric Patient: A Case Report.
JBJS case connector(2021)
Abstract
Although the Masquelet technique is thoroughly described in adult orthopaedic trauma and oncology literature, there are minimal reports to support its use in pediatric patients. Five-year follow-up data on this patient concluded that utilization of this technique for significant bone defects proves to be a safe and effective alternative for the management of pediatric trauma patients.
