Ethane/ethylene separation in a metal-organic framework with shape-matching ethane traps

Abstract
Ethylene (C2H4) plays an important role in industrial production and energy-efficiency separation C2H4 and C2H6 is one of the important processes for the sustainable development of petrochemical industry. Herein, we chose CPM-35 equipping ethane traps for adsorption separation of C2H6/C2H4. The experiment and computation results show that C2H6 can be priority adsorbed (IAST C2H6/C2H4 selectivity is 1.51 at 298 K and 1 bar) and the purification of C2H4 can be realized by this material.
