Chemical profile and biological activity of Crinum americanum L. (Amaryllidaceae)

•This is the first report of in vitro acetylcholinesterase inhibition, antioxidant activity and cytotoxicity on human neuroblastoma cell line by extracts and fractions from Crinum americanum.•Ten of seventeen compounds were identified for the first time in Crinum americanum.•The alkaloid-guided extraction step in the remaining plant material improved the chemical characterization of Crinum americanum leaves and bulbs.
