Enhanced precoder for secondary user of MIMO cognitive radio in the presence of CSIT uncertainties in the desired and interference links

•We have addressed the problem of precoder design for the secondary user (SU) in MIMO cognitive radio by maintaining the QoS for the primary user (PU), in the presence of CSIT uncertainty between the SU-Transmitter and SU-Receiver and between the SU-Transmitter and PU-Receiver.•We have developed a better performance and more efficient alternate iterate precoder solution having higher SU rate and lower computation complexity than the solution from the literature.•We have analyzed the developed solution and shown that it reaches a stationary point with a sublinear rate of convergence.•We have evaluated the computational cost of the proposed solution by providing an upper bound for the number of real arithmetic operations needed in one iteration of alternate projection cycle for completing the three subproblems.•We have compared the performance of the proposed precoder with the solutions from the literature and demonstrated it has better results.
