Photoluminescence of pefloxacindi-ium manganese(II) and zinc(II) tetrahalides

•Lead-free zero-dimensional fluorescent organic-inorganic Mn2+-based hybrid compounds were prepared•Compounds have moderate PLQY (UP TO 45%) and high thermal stability•The structures are stabilized by numerous hydrogen bands and head-to-tail π–π stacking interaction•Positions of the emission peaks in compounds are independent of the halide nature and the excitation wavelengths•PLQYs of compounds are related to the excitation wavelengths
